Product Advantages:
These High-Power SMA Patch Cables utilize air-gap-ferrule technology that eliminates energy-absorbing materials near the fiber end face such as epoxies, connector materials, and coatings. They are designed for free-space-to-fiber applications where an input beam is well within the fiber's NA and fully contained within the fiber core. Please note that these high-power cables are not designed to mate with low-power fiber patch cables and should not be used in mating sleeves or with fixed attenuators. The connector ferrules on the patch cables are used as a heat sink, pulling the heat quickly away from the fiber. The damage threshold on these assemblies will vary with launch conditions and operating wavelength.
Each patch cable includes two protective caps that shield the connector ends from dust and other hazards. Additional Rubber Fiber Caps and Metal Threaded Fiber Caps for SMA-terminated ends are also sold separately. We can also manufacture these cables in custom lengths and with certain custom fibers. Please contact us for details in ordering these items.
Each cable assembly goes through several inspections during the fabrication process, which include extensive material and optical inspection. The inspections begin prior to production and continue throughout the entire production cycle, leading to an exceptional product. Please note that the ferrule height is not held to IEC specifications, but we guarantee that the max ferrule height will not exceed 0.3860", do not test high-power patch cables using a height gauge as the contact between the gauge and connector end can damage the exposed fiber tip.
